Freelance Writing and Personal Writing

If you can write to at least eighth grade level, then you might want to consider freelance writing as a career option. Obviously it takes time and practice to develop your writing and before you can charge a worthwhile amount for your work, but if you persevere, you could make a reasonable living from your writing.

One of the problems for many full time freelancers is that by the time they have finished all their work for the day, the last thing they want to do is to get back on the computer and write for their own edification. If your dream is to write a novel and have it published, then you need to make time for this type of writing, no matter how full your diary is.

Organize Your Time

Many people, writers in particular, find it difficult to organize their day in a way they would like, and that would give them time for their own writing. The first thing to do is to write down everything that you do for the next week or two, including taking a shower and brushing your teeth. At the end of a week or a fortnight you should be able to see where the time has actually gone and in which areas you can make some changes.

Tips for Writing Your Memoir

Writing your memoir is a fabulous way to life to share your life with your family and friends. It can also be a way of leaving a legacy to the world, and to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences during a specific event or time in your life.

To begin your journey, it is essential to get organized:

First of all, decide what you are going to write about. You can gear your writing towards a particular issue or singular event in your life.

Next, write down all the important dates and events that you want to talk about. A memoir is not an auto-biography, so it is not necessary to dwell on minute details.

Then you must gather all the information, jot down the main points that you want to develop, and check the details that you wish to include for accuracy. Talking to certain family members and friends may help jog your memory. Even looking at old photo albums! Take your time with this step because it will make the writing of your memoir so much easier.

Choose your writing style. Memoirs read more like fiction despite the fact that they are based in reality. Writing in this way makes the memoir easy and enjoyable to read. However, always write in the first person. This your story and it belongs to you and you alone.

Language - Keep It Simple and Be Understood

It is interesting how people seem to think that if they use jargon and complex sentences, they will appear smarter. Think about it, listen carefully when you are at a high level meeting and the senior leadership is present. How much of it did you really understand? How much actually contained useful content, and how much sounded like random jargon strung together? How much was a deliberate attempt to skirt the issue at hand?

It is amusing that we all know how to say something in a simple way, but choose not to. Usually because we do not want to appear dumb in front of peers, so we resort to complex sentences and jargon.( At other times, we do it when we really do not know what to say, and use it to purposely confuse the audience and hope they don't notice!)

In the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Captain Jack Sparrow said,

"I am disinclined to acquiesce to your request",

what he really meant to say was simply, "No". This is of course a rather extreme example but it helps to illustrates the point.

Writing and Blogging Your Way to Financial Success

Have you ever dreamed of making an income larger than six figures? Do you love to write? How would you like to do what you love to earn this income? Let me guess, you do not think it is possible. You believe you are stuck in your 30,000 dollar a year j-o-b (just-over-broke) for the rest of your life.

This is simply not true. You can do what you love--from the comfort of your own home in fact--and make a terrific amount of money doing so. It simply takes a little know how and planning to succeed and watch the cash flow easily into your hands.

All About Blogging

Simply put, a blog is a personal discussion or informational site written by one or more authors. Some may comment on a specific subject, some serve as a personal diary such as a person's weight loss progress, and tips while others lean more toward the advertising side of things, serving to promote a certain product.

Its readers can interact, leaving comments at the bottom of the page. Whatever a blog's purpose, many people are making thousands of dollars from the success of their blog. The success, though, depends on many factors.
